2014 Black History Bowl
After hosting and presenting the Annual Black History Bowl for a consecutive 12 years (1991-2002), we were successful in reactivating the event in 2012 after a 10 year break. This year is our third consecutive year of the competition since its reactivation and we look forward to continuing the tradition!
The 2014 Austin Section of NCNW Black History Bowl competition was held on February 15th in Sneed Hall, Mt. Olive Baptist Church. A total of four (4) teams were registered and competed in the fierce competition:
- Austin Zeta Archonettes
- Jack and Jill of America Team 1
- Jack and Jill of America Team 2
- NAACP Austin Youth Council
With assistance from the Study Guide Reproduction Team, under the leadership of Jackie Hawkins, the teams were taught a variety of information for national and local Black History in preparation for the competition. Volunteers served a number of roles including scorekeeper, commentators, hospitality, time keepers, publicity, logistics, photography, trophies and medallions, and concession stand! Whew! A great deal of effort was made to bring this competition to success! The event was well attended. Trophies were presented to each team at the end of the competition.
Congratulations to the 2014 Austin Section of NCNW Black History Bowl Competition Winners:
